Save Options

When you've made changes — annotations, form entries, or text edits — the Save action appears in the toolbar. You choose how to save.

Ways to save​

  • Save in place — overwrite the original file.
  • Save as new file — keep the original and write a new copy.
  • Flatten annotations on export (optional) — merge annotations into the page content so they can't be edited separately.

Auto-save drafts​

Drafts are auto-saved so work can be recovered after a crash.

Save dialog​

The save dialog reflects your plan — some export options are Pro/Premium, and free edits may be limited. Higher tiers unlock saving without a watermark and export to Office formats (see PDF Tools).

Signing a document never overwrites the original — it always writes a new …_signed.pdf. See Digital Signing.
